[he was kind of right that it was about being surprised that it hurts to hurt someone's feelings. he was just wrong that it was about her being abrasive and regretting it.]

I suppose I should be glad that I no longer feel shocked at the notion I would care.

Sort of is, honestly. Just the kind that don't ever go away.

But that's good. Even if this is about the worst possible time to start feelin' attached to people.

I do feel attached to people, you know. I'm not some feelingless monster.

But it would have been easy to become one, I think.

...Yeah. Reckon I would've crossed that line a long time ago if Bas hadn't been there holdin' me back.

[she gets why they've both blanched whenever she's said they're lucky to have one another, knowing they're both dead here, but... this sort of sentiment is why she thinks so. it must be wonderful, to have someone you love enough to change for.]

There's no question your brother is a good man, but you're hardly a bad one, at least from what i've seen.

I don't think I'm terrible or nothin', but. I've always been a real angry, spiteful person. Would've been happy to see the world that treated people like us so badly burn to ashes if it were just me. Only cared about makin' it a better place 'cause I knew he'd have to live in it.
