I think what was meant is, Charlie tried to convey to us that this was the first time they have been able to reach us. So the odd messages we've been getting are something else.

There were blacked out words, but I think she was telling us to be careful of something.

I've heard we're not meant to be opening them when a strange thing comes knocking, but it's a bit difficult to decipher what that might mean when I assume it's not going to be a literal door...
