Well, I was hoping they might at least have useful weapons. I could upgrade from a knife. But it seems not.

Given the creative mentality some of our afflicted seem to have, I almost think it would be better to have straightforward murderous weapons at this point...

That is precisely how I feel. If we had weapons, would more of us die? Or would I just know that if someone tried to kill me I could bash their head in?

I think the latter.

It might be something worth asking the angels about... If people are going to die regardless, I would also like to see more have a way of defending themselves against their attackers, instead of simply being forced to run.

Well, we were given very little information about how things worked at first, so it's sensible to wish to have a way of defending yourself in case things went awry.
