I do not want to say officially sanctioned. More it is like, many members have connections.

I spent a long time pretending that I was her devoted servant, all while believing fully that I was already lost in her eyes, that I'd been thrown away.

I didn't want to admit it outloud to anyone. It would make it more permanent, and I was still clinging to hopes I could somehow undo what I believed I'd done.

I don't know much about your God or your beliefs, but... I've never had a family, I've never had siblings to care for. If I did, and anyone was trying to take that away from me, I'd fight for them with everything I have.

No. I'm an orphan, supposedly. [not that she really knows.] My order took me in when I was a child.

I don't know if it's doubt, exactly.

But they don't always tell the truth. So maybe part of me liked to think it wasn't. Even if realistically, that would only mean that the family I did have abandoned me or never looked for me.
