It's not ideal. [ he's seen worse... ] It isn't as if it can do anything to you. Exposed bones are fragile.

That's true. I've fought real spiders before, and these ones are at a significant disadvantage.

[fine. she reaches out and... pats one.]

You've... fought them? Like large ones?

Quite large ones, yes. And even a lovely man who was half man and half spider. There are so many more spider-based foes than you would imagine.

... Forgive me, but I can't see any world where half-man, half-spider is grounds for the use of the word lovely.

Oh. No, he was grotesque. And dead, now.

Have you explored much of this area yet, or are we distracted entirely by spiders?

... How has the general mood around the others been? You're an observant woman, I feel as though you can pick up on the undercurrents of a crowd.

[but she was at katsu on sunday so it's kind of hard to get a feel for the vibes. anyway she will start walking.]

...Everyone seems uncertain of what's to come next. It's hard to imagine something like what happened to us last week was nothing more than an awful coincidence.

It seems hard to believe that it was a one-off, certainly. I have spent most nights ready for the doors to lock once more.

Do you think anybody will be tempted by them?

Almost certainly, but the angels don't seem to believe so.

That's a little naive of them.

...Yes. They want to believe in us, but it's a lot to ask of anyone.

It is kind of them, to believe this much.

[ a sigh. ]

But at a certain point, they'll need to admit that something isn't happy with this... program, that we are going through.

... Did they ever give you answers? Or did he? Ones that made sense of it to you?

No. The angels are still unsure as to what happened, and when I spoke to him, he merely told me the same thing he told everybody else. That it was to pass the time.

... In the last few moments that I saw him, he seemed like himself again, though.

[a sigh, breathing out harshly at that.]

Only some offense meant, but they aren't exactly behaving as though this is an urgent problem to get to the bottom of.

I'll echo your amount of offense. They said they were looking for more information, but I don't see why whoever is above them wouldn't step in.

But considering the apples, perhaps it's the ones above our angels who are responsible. Charlie did say her own version of heaven was less than excited about this sort of idea.
