It seems... unfair, that the people we keep losing are the ones who least seem to even need redemption.

It does. There's something deeply unfair to it. I've heard others speculate that even this is merely a part of our trials, but a loving God who believes in redemption would surely not be so cruel.

I agree... At the very least, setting all else aside, one's failure in these trials shouldn't cause another person to fail as well.

No. Why would it? It doesn't make any sense. It isn't as though the ones who were killed failed.

With their souls still out there, then I can only hope they'll be granted another try once they're found. It's too great a cruelty, otherwise.

We may have to work to insist on it.

I'm not opposed to it. If I couldn't even do this much for my students, I could hardly call myself a teacher.

We can try. I want another chance for myself, but I don't want to consent to some notion of redemption where some of us are sacrificed but it's fine if we answer correctly about which way we'd send the trolley. I'm too stubborn for that.

That stubbornness is one that we two share, at least. Many others as well, I'm sure. Even if it's not enough on its own, it's something. A start.
