Even if Iris wasn't the most naive person on the planet, all that guy would have to do is hypnotize him to make him say or do or believe anything he wants. They harvest body parts from demiflora. Like Lily eyes and stuff - the parts that hold our powers. They make a living off of selling those parts, and if I remember right, they have to do it while we’re alive, or else the power fades.
